Issued in parts: 1. sér., livr. 1-104, 1880-91; 2. sér., livr. 105-200, 1891-1924. In the Library of Congress set, livr. 198/200, originally issued in 1924, is the "2. tirage, en fac-similé, 1929." A third series is in progress

Each series is arranged alphabetically by author, giving full descriptions of his works usually with a biography and list of works about the author. The works of the following occupy one or more vols.: D. v. Coornhert (1st ser., v. 6) J. Lipsius (1st ser., v. 15-18) F. Coster (2d ser., v. 3-4) D. Erasmus (2d ser., v. 6-14)
A chronological list of the "Concours imprimés" of the Chambers of rhetoric and dramatic societies in the Netherlands to the end of the 18th cent. are included in 2d ser., v. 2
Historical, biographical and bibliographical information about 16th century protestant martyrs of the Netherlands is given in 1st ser., v. 19
"Marques typographiques des imprimeurs et libraires qui ont exercé dans les Pays-Bas, et ... des imprimeurs et libraires belges établis à l'étranger": 2d ser., v. 18-19
The last volume of each series contains an alphabetic index, a chronological index and an index of printers
